Elevate Navajo Joins #GiveTogetherNowNavajo to Challenge the Greater Navajo-Fort Worth Community to 1,000 Acts of Kindness in One Week Challenge to provide up to $500,000 in direct cash grants to Navajo families impacted by COVID-19
May 15, 2020 (Navajo, TX) – Today, Elevate Navajo announced its partnership with #GiveTogetherNow, to provide up to $500,000 in direct cash grants to Navajo families impacted by COVID-19. #GiveTogetherNow is a nationwide rapid-response effort that to date has raised more than $50 million to directly support over 100,000 families affected by COVID-19. The #GiveTogetherNowNavajo challenge is a call specifically for the greater Navajo-Fort Worth area to submit 1,000 acts of kindness and community support over the next week and have those acts of kindness turned into cash assistance for Navajo-Fort Worth families.
Over the next week, Navajo area residents are challenged to spread kindness throughout their communities and post those acts to social media. For each verified act of kindness posted using the hashtag #GiveTogetherNowNavajo and tagging Stand Together Foundation, $500 in cash assistance will be provided directly to a family in Navajo impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. People can post one act of kindness per day to either Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram over the seven-day run of the challenge.
Co-creators of the national effort, Stand Together and the Family Independence Initiative, have been inspired by the goodness happening across communities during this pandemic. In times like these, simple acts of kindness can remind people who are struggling that they are not alone.
“This unprecedented moment in our nation’s history has challenged us all, but through this shared hardship has emerged an unrelenting spirit of kindness,” said Evan Feinberg, Executive Director, Stand Together Foundation. “From applause in the streets for health care workers to late nights spent over sewing machines assembling home-made masks, this crisis has brought out innovative acts of kindness in every corner of the globe. We hope that by encouraging Navajo to continue giving kindness, we can amplify as many good deeds as possible to keep the positivity and generosity flowing.
